Autonomous Mobile Robotic Manipulator

Smart agriculture in Sri Lankan polytunnels

Multifunctional platform for precision detection and targeted treatment in protected cultivation. Combines a suspended mobile base, Cartesian arm + gimbal, and RGB–NIR perception (NDVI, HOG+RF, color segmentation) with dual-nozzle spraying. ROS 2 autonomy (SLAM Toolbox, Nav2) executes plant-level pause–detect–spray–resume with reliable row traversal.

Mobile Manipulator for Logistics & Warehousing

Omnidirectional base · 4-DoF arm · Depth perception

Compact warehouse robot with a mecanum-drive base and 4-DoF arm (≈0.5 m³ workspace, 2 kg payload). Features kinematic modeling, motor sizing with topology-optimized links, IKPy control, and depth-aware perception for pick-and-place. Validated via simulation, and integrated prototype with web/mobile teleoperation.

Intelligent Road-Sign Line-Following Robot

PID line following · Hybrid sign recognition · Obstacle handling

An intelligent mobile robot that follows a black line with an 8-IR PID controller, adapts speed to limit signs, and makes junction decisions from ordered road-sign detection. Vision combines EasyOCR for numeric speed signs (20, 100) with a Random-Forest classifier on HOG+HSV features for symbolic signs (BUS STOP, P, TRAIN), fusing results to trigger precise pause, stop, and turn actions. A companion app enables manual, line-follow, and obstacle-assist modes.

MEMS Single-Cell Injection Platform

Electrostatic injector · Microgripper · Force feedback

A monolithic MEMS device integrating an electrostatic comb-drive injector, dual-arm microgripper, and piezoresistive force sensors for high-precision single-cell injection. COMSOL simulations validated safe forces (10–20 µN), strokes exceeding 5 µm, and stable gripping dynamics above 3 kHz. The work has been published as a peer-reviewed paper, underscoring its biomedical relevance.

Smart Environment Monitoring Station

IoT sensing · Real-time data · Web & mobile apps

An IoT-based station measuring temperature, humidity, solar irradiance, light intensity, wind, and rainfall with both commercial and custom sensors. Data is transmitted in real time and visualized through dedicated web and mobile applications for environmental awareness and decision support.
